Lauryn is an avid reader. Her reading career started early in her education where she excelled in her school's reading program. The more she read the more her passion for reading grew. For most readers, the reason to read is to learn; but also for enjoyment. Some books can take the reader on a journey through time and teach important life lessons. A reader's skills will develop with with time and practice, the more someone reads the better reader they become. For Lauryn, the enjoyment of reading made it easy for her skills to develop and flourish. However, each activity in life comes with a challenging part. For reading, Lauryn thinks the hardest part is to slow down and really comprehend what the author is trying to say, especially if the literature is more for educational purposes, rather than pleasure. The process of choosing a book is different for everyone. Lauryn chooses her books by word of mouth, recommendations on social media, and by reading the book summary. Any book with an exciting plot and a good love story is perfect book for her. Lauryn tries to read at home whenever possible. During the school year it can be challenging with homework from other subjects, but if the book is engaging enough, she'll always make time to read.
Lauryn would consider herself a writer, but not of the creative type. Her writing really started to take shape in the beginning of her high schooling, when her class was taught the correct process of writing her favorite type, persuasive essays. People write for all different reason. There's informational, persuasive, and entertaining. Writing is a lot like reading, the more someone does, the better one gets. The only difference is there is several rules, grammatical and structural, that need to be followed. Lauryn believes constructive criticism can help in revising her writing. Finding a topic to write about is the hardest part for Lauryn, especially because she doesn't care for creative writing. Writing doesn't occur a lot a home for her, unless it is for a school assignment or scholarship essay. Overall, writing is a little stressful for Lauryn because not all topics are easy to connect to and write about.
